"Only one thing is needed." With those words, Christ swept away centuries of chauvinism, bias, tradition and ritual. Women were no,longer to be on the outside, looking in when it comes to spiritual matters. Jesus words were not an indictment of Martha's service. His rebuke was an invitation to relationship. An offer to exchange the busyness and exhausting treadmill of good works for the one thing Martha's soul longed for. The only thing that could fill the emptiness of her heart - the Better Part. The sweet gift of Jesus Himself.
